Amber Case is an influential design leader, author, and researcher whose work explores the intersection of humans and technology.

She is the founder of the Calm Tech Institute, which certifies products and spaces using an evidence-based framework for attention-respecting design, and the is the author of Calm Technology: Principles and Patterns for Non-Intrusive Design (O’Reilly, 2015). Her fifth book, Friction, on embodied cognition and tactile interface design, is forthcoming.

Case previously held research affiliations at MIT Media Lab and Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society. Her 2010 TED talk “We Are All Cyborgs Now” has been viewed by millions of people.
